June Roadmap: Slowing Down, Building Smarter, and Getting DAP Ready for the Next Step.

June is going to be a little different for Detroit Aviation Photography.

Over the last several months, I have been shooting a lot. And I mean a lot. At this point, I have well over 10,000 aviation photos to choose from, sort through, edit, build around, and turn into something more than just files sitting on a hard drive. That is a good problem to have, but it also means it is time to slow down a little on stock shooting and put more focus into the bigger picture.

That bigger picture is the website.

A lot of my June focus will be on building and improving detroitaviationphotography.com. I have been learning as I go — layout, design, code, pages, product sections, mobile fixes, buttons, cards, collections, all of it. Some days it clicks. Some days I stare at the screen and wonder what I just broke. But every week the site gets better, cleaner, and closer to what I want DAP to become.

The photo side is still very much alive, but I want to be more intentional with what I am shooting and releasing. Instead of just chasing volume, I want to spend more time on the images and aircraft that really stand out.

That means a deeper focus on:

Special liveries
Rare visitors
Detroit heavy metal
Heritage aircraft
One-off moments
Themed print packages

I am also starting to look at putting together some themed packages instead of only releasing single prints. That could mean special livery sets, rare visitor bundles, airline-themed collections, or Detroit-focused aviation groups. The goal is to make the print side more interesting for collectors and aviation fans, while also giving people more options than just one photo at a time.

The June Monthly Giveaway is also part of that push. I want to make the giveaway section more interactive and give people a reason to check in, vote, comment, and be part of what gets featured. The plan is to keep that going, and I am already looking ahead at doing another giveaway in July.

I also want to take a minute and say thank you to everyone who has purchased prints, cards, or anything from Detroit Aviation Photography so far. Every order matters. Every share matters. Every comment, like, and message helps. This is still very much a one-person operation, and I am building it piece by piece between work, shooting, editing, printing, website updates, and everything else that goes with it.

I will also be working on more engagement over on Instagram, so look for more posts, reels, print previews, and aviation content there as the month goes on.

June is not about stopping. It is about tightening things up.

Less random shooting.
More focused releases.
Better website pages.
More special liveries.
More rare visitors.
More themed collections.
And hopefully, a stronger foundation for what Detroit Aviation Photography becomes next.
